Meet Fernando Alvarez

Born and raised in Southwest Fresno, Fernando Alvarez is the proud son of immigrant parents who came here chasing the American dream and taught him the values of hard work, sacrifice, and service. From an early age, Fernando understood the struggles and the strength of working families in our community. He carried those lessons with him from the fields to the classroom, and into public service.

At just 21 years old, he earned the trust of his neighbors and became one of the youngest elected officials in Fresno County, serving as a school board trustee. In that role, he saw firsthand how investing in our youth and families can transform lives and open doors of opportunity. Now, Fernando is stepping forward to bring that same energy and vision to the City Council. He’s running to wake up the dormant giant of District 3 — Southwest and Downtown Fresno — and to deliver real results: safer neighborhoods, stronger small businesses, and a community that finally gets its fair share of resources and investment.
Fernando has a plan for
Southwest & Downtown Fresno
Fair Share of Funding
For too long, Southwest and Downtown Fresno have been overlooked. Fernando will fight to bring home our fair share of state and federal dollars — money to improve our homes, schools, roads, and public spaces.
Everyone deserves to feel safe walking down their street. Fernando will work to reduce crime, improve lighting and infrastructure, and build trust between neighbors and law enforcement so our communities truly thrive.
Safer Neighborhoods
Stronger Local Economy
Small businesses are the backbone of District 3, and they deserve real support. Fernando will fight to attract investment, cut red tape, and create opportunities that lead to well-paying jobs right here at home.
Youth Mentorship
Fernando knows firsthand the power of investing in young people. He will expand mentorships, internships, and leadership opportunities so the next generation has the tools to succeed — not just tomorrow, but today.
